Acupuncture

Traditional acupuncture dates back to ancient China and it is still frequently used in Chinese Medicine to rebalance the flow of energy (Qi) within the body thereby restoring health. Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine, single use, sterile needles into the muscles and soft tissues of the body. Acupuncture can be used to treat many injuries and conditions including muscle strains and joint problems. The points at which needles are inserted will vary depending on the individual and the condition being treated. Acupuncture is rarely painful; often patients are unaware of the needles being inserted, although occasionally a needle may sting slightly.

Kinesiology taping is a rehabilitative taping technique that promotes the body’s natural healing processes following injury or trauma. Any injury will lead to an inflammatory response; whilst we need this process as the first stage in recovery, the pain, swelling, redness and heat can cause us discomfort. Correct application of kinesiology tape can reduce pain and facilitate lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin. Kinesiology tape can also be applied to support and stabilise the body’s soft tissues and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion.
